History of Castlebar Golf Club

Established in 1910, the course was redesigned by Peter McEvoy in 2004 and upgraded again in 2020 by Jeff Howes. The club has been fortunate to host several prestigious events including the 2004 Irish Boys Amateur Close Championship and the 2010 All Ireland Club and Shields Finals. In 2016 the club famously hosted US President Joe Biden, his brother Jim and Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Mr Enda Kenny. The Course entered the Golf Digest Top 100 Courses in Ireland in 2007. 

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse features a highly acclaimed restaurant, a fully serviced bar, Pro Golf shop, lockers rooms and much more. Whether you’re coming for a casual round of golf or to enjoy our delicious cuisine, you won’t be disappointed.

The Course

The course is maintained to the highest of standards and is renowned for the quality of its putting surfaces and water features. The 18 rolling Greens designed and constructed to USGA specifications to ensure every putting surface is of consistently high quality. The Course was recently upgrade by Jeff Howes and officially opened by Mick McCarthy in 2022.
